However there are some stipulations:
First, MESSA has three different insurance policies.
The first is MESSA standard policy.
It is indicated by group number 66576.
You must bill it under a "Participating Provider" either PhD, MD, or DO.
You will indicate in box 31 of the CMS form 1500, that you are the "Supplier" or therapist of the service.
However, in box no, 25 will be either the SSN or Tax ID no of the Participating Provider.
Your "Participating Provider will receive payment for the services that you billed. They will in turn either sign the check over to you or they will write a check to you for the amount of services that you billed.
Tell your "Participating Provider" that you are NOT an employee of them, just your supervisor.
P.S., Group No. 66576 allows 50 visits with a patient 10% co-pay, after their deductible has been met. (See example)
MESSA has two other policies, MESSA Choices and MESSA PPO.
They will be another group number other than the one listed above.
You can take those policies, but you now must bill under a "Non-Participating Provider."
The number of sessions is usually less and the amount of reimbursement is less.
You can call BC/BSM's computer for benefits.
They gave the computer the name of "Karen."
The number is 800-344-8525.
When it answers press option 2.
You will input on your telephone keypad the Social Security Number of the Cardholder and the 4 digits of the patient's birth year. We have attached to this email a sample of the CCM-1500 form that is used for billing.
